Mostly unknown to the outside world, Colombia is fast acquiring a reputation as Latin America’s best-kept secret. But it won’t stay under-the-radar for long. Join us on this captivating tour from bustling Bogotá, revitalized Medellín, and romantic Cartagena before the rest of the world catches on.

We begin in Bogotá, Colombia’s cosmopolitan capital. After getting settled, head north through lands once ruled by the lost Muisca civilization to the town of Zipaquirá for a fascinating tour of Catedral de Sal, an underground church built inside a 500-year-old salt mine, before returning to the city for a private walking tour of the beautiful La Candelaria district. Before departing, you’ll also have the chance to explore the boutiques and cafés of Zona Rosa on your own before moving on to your next stop: Medellín.

Once synonymous with the violent drug trade, Medellín has reimagined itself as one of Latin America’s most dynamic and forward-thinking cities. You’ll witness the transformation first-hand on a private walking tour of the city that stops at Parque Berrio and Botero Plaza (famed for its collection of sculptures by Medellín-born artist Fernando Botero) en route to the moving Museo Casa de la Memoria. Later, visit vibrant Comuna 13 with a private guide and experience the explosion of art and culture that has enlivened one of the city’s most infamous districts. Finally, get to know Medellín’s favorite export – coffee – on a full-day private experience at Hacienda Café El Retiro, an artisanal coffee producer.

Last stop: Cartagena, the “Venice of Colombia.” Stunning by day, this UNESCO-protected city is even more magical by night, as you’ll discover through a privately guided tour of the restaurants, nightspots, open-air cocktail lounges and live-music venues that make this city hum. Later, experience the city’s Caribbean-influenced cuisine on a private gastronomy tour complete with a visit to the maze-like Mercado Bazurto and a demonstration with an expert chef. Lastly, unwind from the journey via a relaxing private boat tour of the Rosario Islands, a dazzling collection of 23 coral islands that, together, form one of Colombia’s most diverse and treasured marine ecosystems. ... Enjoy lunch (included) during your tour.

Here you will find shopping malls, designer boutiques, charming cafes and lively bistros open during daylight hours that are among the most popular in the city. • Patricia M — May 24, 2019 — South America

Overall, we were very pleased with the entire experience. Our guides were excellent, knowledgeable, and friendly. We were also amazed as to how well planned the entire trip was and the support we received throughout. For example, the support we received when our flight was delayed was welcomed and greatly appreciated.

  • Lyle I — March 18, 2019 — South America

Brandi went above and beyond our expectations. This was a bucket list trip for us and it was fabulous. Renee, in Peru, was incredibly attentive and caring. Mariela Zamora was an excellent guide and gave us 110% service. We are very impressed with Kensington and all of their people.

  • Robert S — June 11, 2019 — South America

This was the second of what will soon be 3 tours with Kensington. The 1st 2 included 17 people. There is absolutely no aspect of the trips that I can find fault with. All the details were carefully dealt with. All of the people from the office to those "on the ground" were professional and pleasant.

  • Lynn N — February 27, 2019 — South America

Every aspect of our trip to the Galápagos Islands was perfect. Scalesia Lodge and Finch Bay Hotel were both incredible, our excursions were wonderful, our guides were knowledgeable, and our itinerary was planned and executed effortlessly. Best last minute addition: booking a room at the W at the airport in Quito so that we had a comfortable place to nap and relax during our 6-hour layover (especially since our flight back to the States did not depart until 12:45 am).

  • Shelley R — March 24, 2019 — South America

Kensington Tours planned our trip to Patagonia when we went to visit our daughter in Buenos Aries. Everything worked like clockwork. Flights, transfers and excursions were all well planned with excellent companies and were stress-free. The excursions were varied, and the guides were excellent. Hotels were top notch and very comfortable. This is the second time I have used Kensington to plan a vacation, and they really make it easy. I gave them the places we wanted to visit and our interests and they took it from there. I highly recommend Kensington Tours!

  • Carmen S. — January 20, 2019 — South America

Thanks to Kensington Tours we had a fabulous, stress free vacation. The Kensington team (Barbara and Jenny) were extremely helpful in helping us decide on sites to visit and planning our airfares connections and always there to timely answer any questions we had. The guides and drivers were always prompt, knowledgeable and accommodating to our needs and we couldn’t asked for a better trip!

  • Gabriele M. — January 10, 2019 — South America

We had a great time on our trip to Argentina and Chile. The guides were great.

  • Melvin S. — January 31, 2019 — South America

We enjoyed the experience very much. Our guides in Bogota (Sebastian) and Medellin (Maria) were excellent and very appropriate for those experiences and are highly recommended.

  • Caryl M. — January 07, 2019 — South America

Sarah Roberts was a joy to work with. She was helpful, responsive and always had a positive can-do attitude. Just fantastic.

  • Ann V. — November 16, 2018 — South America

It was a trip of a lifetime. Everything worked out perfectly. Thanks so much for all your guidance and help.
