This self-guided excursion will take you to the very heart of the Bernese Alps - from the green valleys to the glistening, eternal snow fields and glaciers encircling the mighty Eiger, MÖnch, and Jungfrau, which forms an imposing nucleus of the Alpine Region. Walk or take the excellent public transport to Lucerne’s central station and take the train to Interlaken Ost, from there you will change trains to the Waterfall Valley of Lauterbrunnen where you change again and board the train to Jungfraujoch. At Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe, you can visit the Ice Palace and the Sphinx Terraces - reached by lift affording a breathtaking view of the Aletsch Glacier, the largest river of ice in Europe. Pause for a refreshment or a meal at the Jungfraujoch Restaurant, 'Top of Europe'. After approximately 2 and a half hours, you will return by Eiger Express to the mountaineering village of Grindelwald, to the winter sports and mountaineering center. Enjoy the view of the mighty mountains, before returning to Lucerne where you will independently transfer back to your hotel.
