No first trip to Iceland would be complete without experiencing the country’s most famed touring route, the Golden Circle. Meet your private guide and set out to discover the three most iconic and picturesque natural sites Iceland has to offer. Explore the mossy Thingvellir National Park, site of the world’s first ever parliament dating back over 1,000 years, as well as the continental divide between the American and Eurasian tectonic plates, a unique geological feature only on display in Iceland. The park offers dramatic scenery and woodland that changes colors throughout the year, making the area a photographer’s delight. You’ll also encounter the magnificent Gullfoss (Golden Falls), one of Iceland’s largest and most photogenic waterfalls, with water constantly rushing from a river that’s fed by the melting Langjokull glacier. The upper and lower platforms offer impressive perspectives unique to themselves, so the trek between both is well worth your time. The final pillar of the Golden Circle, discover the great Geysir geothermal area where the dependable Strokkur geyser spouts hot water as high as 100 feet in the air, every 6 minutes or so. Climb up the mountain behind Strokkur for a stunning view out across a valley initially hidden from site. Midday you'll be treated to a unique lunch experience at the Fridheimar Greenhouse where you'll enjoy a private presentation by one of the greenhouse employees, followed by a delightful lunch featuring the very tomatoes grown on site. Conclude your day back in Reykjavik.
