The Adventure Begins
For added comfort on arrival, your Meet and Greet assistant will be waiting outside customs with a name sign, ready to coordinate your connection with your private driver and accompany you all the way to your hotel for check-in.
A full welcome package will be waiting at your first property, including your itinerary, destination notes, and any admissions or documents you need for the journey ahead.
Optional:
The Witchery Restaurant located on the Royal Mile is a highly recommended dinner venue. The 16th century building located close to the Castle is lit exclusively by candlelight. The tapestry-draped main dining room is an ode to opulence: the seats are a rich red leather, the ceiling is gilded, and the walls are covered with oak panels salvaged from an old cathedral. The Secret Garden annex, meanwhile, is full of brass candlesticks and stone statues, and displays a series of painted doors that tell the story of Edinburgh's wine trade with France. The menu is equally astonishing, and the desserts absolutely divine. Please note, this is an optional experience and your reservation and meal are not included. Speak with your Destination Expert if you would like to have a reservation made for you.

Along Cobblestone Streets
Meet your private guide at your hotel and depart on foot for a half-day walking tour through Scotland’s hilly capital, Edinburgh, founded over 1,200 years ago. You'll also explore New Town, co-listed with the Old Town as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which features the famous Princes Street with its ornate 200-foot-high Scott Monument, along with historic Georgian and neo-classical architecture. Stroll the renowned Royal Mile in Old Town, book-ended by the 12th-century Edinburgh Castle at one end, and the 16th-century Holyrood Palace at the other, residence of the British monarch in Scotland. Spot the prominent St Giles’ Cathedral, a religious focal point for nearly 900 years. Pass the National Museum of Scotland and learn of the city’s hidden subterranean passages running below street level. Visit the iconic Edinburgh Castle, perched on Castle Rock with an imposing stance upon the historic old town below. Stroll the courtyard and learn about the historic royal residence from the outside before leaving your guide while you visit the inside of the castle, where you can see the lavish interiors, and even the Crown Jewels.
Explore the eerie depths of Edinburgh's history on a small group walking tour with a local guide, delving into its ghostly past with every step. Led by your knowledgeable guide, hear chilling tales of the city’s bloody crimes, notorious murders, and restless spirits as you navigate through shadowy corners reputed to be haunted. Descend into the infamous Blair Street underground vaults, where echoes of Edinburgh’s dark past linger in the damp air—from the desperate lives of the destitute to the secrets of sinister characters who once prowled these hidden corridors. Uncover the unsettling history and ghostly apparitions said to dwell within these vaults before concluding your tour by being treated to a whisky tasting in a candle-lit cellar, where spine-chilling stories add an atmospheric finale to your exploration of Edinburgh's most mysterious corners.

EDINBURGH TO INVERNESS
Onward and Upward
Take a journey back in time as you follow the footsteps of Jamie and Claire from Edinburgh to Inverness. Begin this exploration of the “Outlander Trail” with a visit to the picturesque village of Culross. With its 16th-century town center, Culross doubled as the fictional Cranesmuir, home of Castle Leoch and Claire’s medicinal herb garden. From Culross the trail leads to Falkland, the location used to represent the city of Inverness in the 1940’s. Here you can stand in front of the Bruce Fountain and look upwards at the window of the fictional Mrs. Baird’s B&B, just as the mysterious Highlander silhouette did in Outlander's first episode. If time permits, head inside the property for a drink or two. Next, travel to the actual city of Inverness, the location of your accommodation where you can head in for some rest or spend your evening at you own leisure.

A Journey Back in Time
Journey along the Outlander Trail with a visit to the stunning Glen Affric, magnificently surrounded by an evergreen Caledonian pine forest. This spectacular synergy of sparkling lochs and native flora and fauna provide a magical atmosphere capped by two of the largest mountain ranges north of Loch Ness. Fans of the Outlander series may recognize this located as where Jamie Fraser hid from the Redcoats. Next, it’s off to visit the location of the Culloden Battlefield, where Claire and Jamie said their emotional goodbyes before Jamie went off to fight for the Jacobite cause. From here, travel to the mystical Clava Cairns – a grouping of ancient Bronze Age stones set in a circle, which provided the inspiration for Craigh-na-Dun in the series. At the end of the tour, you will be returned back to your accommodation in Inverness. To ensure the utmost flexibility no entrance fees have been included.
