When arriving at the IceHotel, we recommend that you attend the guided check-in tour where you will get all the proper instructions, hints and tips on how to sleep well in minus degrees. The tour also covers a brief history of the property and is held in both English and Swedish. When checking in to the cold accommodation, you'll get a key to your own locker where you can store your clothes as you change to your sleeping attire. If you're staying in a suite, you'll get access to your own small changing room where you can leave your outdoor clothes. When it's time to go to bed, you pick up a sleeping bag and sheets from the reception desk in the warm building connected to the IceHotel. You can choose between single or double sleeping bags. For a good night's sleep, we recommend sleeping in thermal underwear (such as a long-johns and long-sleeved undershirt) and a hat, preferably woollen. Your luggage will be stored in a locked luggage room during your stay - if you bring it to your room, it will freeze during the night!
You'll find warm bathrooms, showers and a sauna in the warm building connected to the IceHotel. If you need to use the bathroom during the night, you'll need to get out of your sleeping bag and go the warm building -so here's a tip; don't drink too much coffee before going to bed!
Choose from various different Winter activities from snowmobile safaris, dog sledding tours and horse, moose and Sami tours. Please ask your Destination Expert for details on all of the options.

Hidden Gems
Around 7.30 am, you will be awakened by one of the IceHotel guides and served hot lingonberry juice in bed. In the warm building, you can enjoy a warm morning sauna before going to IceHotel Restaurant for a buffet breakfast.
Each year, the ICEHOTEL opens towards the beginning of December and typically remains open until mid-April. Visitors in the beginning of December are treated to an in-depth look at one of the world's most extreme building processes; snow cannons humming on the Torne River shore, machines hauling ice block weighing 2 tonnes and artists carving sculptures out of ice.
Each week, until the end of the year when it is completed, a new part of IceHotel typically opens up to guests and visitors. It is the darkest time of the year, the sun never reaches above the horizon and the snow glistens and crunches underfoot. The chances of seeing the Northern Lights dance across the sky during this time, are very favorable.
When closing in on spring, the sun starts to warm up, and the temptation to just sit outside, have a cup of coffee and soak up the sun, grows day by day. The sun reflects off the snow and if you are not careful, you might get a sunburn on your cheeks. The massive amounts of snow and warm weather are superb conditions for snowmobiling and skiing. As March rolls around, ice is harvested from Torne River. The sawing of ice blocks, lifting them up from the frozen river and transporting them into storage, usually draws a large audience on the river shore.
A perfect opportunity to experience Lapland’s magnificent nature in broad daylight. This excursion takes you across frozen lakes and bogs, through hilly landscapes with views over the river and Kiruna in the far horizon. Traditional Swedish fika by an open fire included.
There are two on site restaurants to choose from. The ICEHOTEL Restaurant offers a gastronomic adventure and a high-end a la carte menu in a bright and modern atmosphere. The cuisine has been featured in gourmet magazines around the world and has been awarded the prestigious Werner VÖgeli Statuette. In October 2007, the Nordic Council of Ministers awarded IceHotel the honorary New Nordic Food diploma. Overlooking the Torne River, you'll find the authentic, charming Old Homestead Restaurant. In this timber building, built in 1768, you can enjoy a rustic Á la carte menu during winter at 6 PM and 9 PM. The dress code at both restaurants is casual but well-dressed. You don't have to wear your fanciest frock, but prefer you don't dine in your outerwear, snow boots or long-johns. There is also a warm and comfortable lounge which is open between 11 AM and 1 AM and serves sandwiches, coffee drinks, wine and beer.

If your stay at the IceHotel has inspired you to take up Ice sculpting, consider spending time with one of the artists as you learn this intricate art.
Consider spending the night out in the Arctic wilderness. Surrounded by dense, snow-covered forests, you could embark on a noctural adventure to enjoy a snowmobile tour to a wilderness camp, where you could relax over a campfire dinner before going to sleep in one of the rustic cabins. There is a wood-fired sauna at the camp which is always a hit with guests. The camp has wooden huts with several beds in each hut, a fire place for heat, wood fire sauna and dry toilet. After breakfast the following morning, you would return to the IceHotel for approximately 10am. Please let your Destination Expert know if you would be interested in spending a night in a wilderness camp during your stay.
