Junior Historians
Today you'll unearth the mysteries and history of Inca culture at the famed Larco Museum during a family fun guided tour. Featuring the world’s largest private collection of pre-Columbian art, the museum houses an incredible array of ancient pottery, jewels of gold, silver and precious stones, which in total amounts to more than 45,000 pieces, including Paracas textiles and mummified remains. The Larco Museum also hosts several family programs including 'The Journeys of Ai Apaec' where the kids can learn about Ai Apaec, the mythical Mochica hero who fought different creatures from the ocean and the world of darkness in defense of the harmony of nature’s cycles. This program involves different activities such as a treasure hunt, object exploration, reenactment of fight scenes, and creating your own comic strip. Following this, you'll have an opportunity to enjoy lunch in the beautiful gardens of the museum.
After your time at the Larco Museum, make your way to El Cacaotal, a place where producers and consumers of chocolate and coffee come together from all over Peru. Accompanied by a cup of freshly roasted coffee with an unmatched flavor, you will begin your gastronomic adventure in a tasting of cocoa from different parts of the country that will allow you to identify its characteristics according to its origin such as flavor, texture, and its own history. Your guides in this experience will be two experts in the field: Amanda, anthropologist and certified cocoa and chocolate taster; and Felipe, a certified Q-grader and director of Tostadora Ciclos CafÉ. Following this delicious tasting, you will be return to your hotel by private transfer.
Lima’s dining scene is a vibrant showcase of creativity and heritage, where some of Latin America’s most celebrated restaurants redefine Peruvian cuisine.
