Big-Game Galore
This morning you will meet up with your guide and set out on a game drive through Amboseli Park, a land famous for its great herds of elephants. African elephants are distinguished from their Asian counterparts in several ways, the most noticeable being their ears, which are much larger. The African elephant is typically larger than Asian elephants and also feature a concave back. Both African males and females have external tusks and are usually less hairy than their Asian relatives. With any luck, today you will witness these incredible creatures firsthand as you track through Amboseli Park, in addition to a wide range of fascinating animals both large and small.
With the sun high in the sky, set out with your guide into Amboseli National Park for an afternoon game drive. Although the region is visited by travelers primarily aiming to sight great herds of free roaming elephants, the park is also home to many other animals including cheetahs, lions, baboons, wildebeest and buffalo, to name only a few. On today’s afternoon adventure, you will track through Amboseli National Park in search of these impressive and less commonly seen animals.

Welcome to your camp in the Masai Mara! Tucked away in one of the reserve’s most secluded corners, Sala’s Camp offers a rare sense of exclusivity, set along the Sand River where Kenya meets Tanzania. This peaceful setting, far from the busier areas of the Mara, allows for an unhurried safari experience with exceptional wildlife viewing in a truly intimate environment.
After settling into your beautifully appointed tent, head out on your first afternoon game drive across sweeping plains alive with wildlife. From elegant giraffes and vast herds of antelope to elusive big cats, each outing reveals a different side of this remarkable landscape.
At the heart of the camp, the main lounge and dining area overlook the river, offering uninterrupted views toward the distant Tanzanian hills. Here, days unfold at an easy pace, whether enjoying a freshly prepared meal at the striking communal table, relaxing with a drink from the open bar, or pausing for afternoon treats before your next safari. Various seating areas invite you to unwind, including a sunken firepit deck where evenings are spent sharing stories beneath the stars. Dining is equally memorable, from relaxed al fresco lunches on the veranda to atmospheric dinners, occasionally enjoyed outdoors.
As evening falls, the rhythm of the bush takes over, and the soft sounds of wildlife create a memorable and immersive close to your day.
This afternoon, head out on an exciting game drive with your guide, keeping your eyes peeled for giraffes. Giraffes usually inhabit savannas, grasslands, and open woodlands. They prefer areas with plenty of acacia trees, an important food source, and can browse at heights that most other herbivores cannot reach. While adults are nearly invulnerable to predation, lions, leopards, spotted hyenas and wild dogs prey on baby calves. Giraffes commonly gather together to eat or socialize for a few hours and then roam off to graze separately. Males establish social hierarchies through "neckings," which are combat bouts where the neck is used as a weapon. Based on these displays, dominant males gain mating rights to females, who then bear the sole responsibility for raising their young.

Safari Sightings
Today you will set out on an early morning game drive with your expert guide. The Masai Mara is home to a diverse range of animals. The park is home to the Big Five (Lion, Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo and Leopard) and numerous other species including Thomson's and Grant's Gazelles, Impalas, Topics, Hartebeest, Zebra and Masai Giraffe. It's also home to over 450 species of birdlife; among them are vultures, marabou storks, secretary birds, hornbills, crowned cranes, ostriches, long-crested eagles and African pygmy-falcons.
Indulge in a moment of relaxation with your Kensington-arranged 30-minute massage at Sala’s Camp. Set against the serene backdrop of the Masai Mara, this soothing experience is designed to help you unwind between safari activities.
Whether taken after a morning game drive or before an evening on the plains, this short yet restorative experience offers the perfect balance of comfort and connection to the surrounding wilderness.
Dining at Sala’s Camp is shaped by its remote setting at the southern edge of the Maasai Mara, with menus that draw on fresh, seasonal ingredients and a blend of international and locally inspired flavors.
Mornings begin with a relaxed breakfast featuring fresh fruits, pastries, eggs prepared to order, and a selection of hot dishes. As the day unfolds, lighter lunches are served, often centered around vibrant salads, grilled options, and simple, well-balanced plates.
In the evening, dinner becomes a more considered experience, with multi-course menus that change regularly and reflect both the creativity of the kitchen and the ingredients available. Dishes combine familiar flavors with subtle regional influences, resulting in a varied and thoughtful approach to dining.
Meals are served in the camp’s shared spaces, where views stretch across the open plains and wildlife is often nearby. The atmosphere is unhurried, with a natural flow that follows the rhythm of the day. Please share any dietary needs well in advance with your Destination Expert.
Head out in the afternoon on a game drive across the beautiful Masai Mara. As the sun descends and the plains begin to cool, wildlife emerges from the shelter of shade and becomes more active. See if you can spot a herd of elephants as they approach watering holes and rivers to cool down with a drink and mud bath. The largest living land animal on Earth, elephants live – on average – between 50 to 70 years. African elephants are the largest of their species, and with any luck, will be seen firsthand during your exploration of the Masai Mara.

The Mane Attraction
Early this morning head out on a rewarding game drive. Today, see if you can spot the elusive leopard. The smallest of the four "big cats," the leopard was once found across eastern and southern Asia and Africa, from Siberia to South Africa, but its range has decreased radically because of hunting and loss of habitat. It is now chiefly found in sub-Saharan Africa. Compared to other members of the Felidae family, the leopard has relatively short legs and a long body with a large skull. It is similar in appearance to the jaguar, but is smaller and more slightly built. The species success in the wild is in part due to its opportunistic hunting behavior, its adaptability to various habitats, its ability to run at speeds approaching 36 miles per hour, its unequaled ability to climb trees even when carrying a heavy carcass, and its notorious ability for stealth. Ever elusive, these animals are one of the prized sightings within the Masai Mara.
Your expert guide will meet you at your lodge for an afternoon game viewing drive in and around the Masai Mara, today focusing on lions. Typically found in the savanna and grasslands, lions live on average between 10 and 14 years, and are unusually social compared to other cats. A pride of lions consists of related females, their offspring and a small number of adult males. Groups of female lions typically hunt together, while the highly distinctive male lion is easily recognized by its mane and large face; one of the most widely recognized animal symbols in human culture.
