Head out on this half day adventure to a UNESCO World Heritage site - the highest free standing dunes in the world. Take in the striking beauty of the area as the morning light throws shadows off the ridges of the dunes. Your guide will educate you on the ecosystem and geological processes as well as life in this formidable environment. There will be a chance to walk to Deadvlei, where ancient tree trunks, 900 years dead, stand in stark contrast to the bleached clay pan. Try climbing a sand dune - if you are fit and feeling adventurous, maybe even conquer the towering ‘Big Daddy’.

The Journey Continues…
Meet with your guide and depart on a transfer to Swakopmund today. The fascinating drive takes you northwest through the ever-changing desert landscapes of the Namib Naukluft National Park, including the impressive Gaub and Kuiseb canyons. You'll meet the coast at the port town of Walvis Bay, visiting the lagoon to see the interesting mix of pelicans, flamingos and other sea-birds, before continuing north to Swakopmund where you can enjoy the pleasant seaside location and cooler coastal air. Approximate travel time is 6 hours.

After breakfast you will depart Swakopmund and head into the Damaraland of northwestern Namibia. Driving inland, you will pass Namibia’s highest mountain, the Brandberg, in the distance. Characterized by displays of color, magnificent table topped mountains, rock formations, and bizarre-looking vegetation, Damaraland offers breathtaking scenery. Approximate travel time is 5 hours.

This morning, hop into your 4x4 to explore the remarkable Damaraland area, searching for game in the Aba Huab and Huab River valleys. Despite the arid conditions, the area supports healthy populations of Hartmann's mountain zebra, southern giraffe, gemsbok, springbok, along with the elusive desert-adapted elephant, and the occasional cheetah and black rhino. You can also find interesting flora like euphorbias, pachypodiums and shepherd's trees that have adapted to this harsh environment. Stop to enjoy a picnic lunch in stunning surroundings atop a mountain, or nestled into a picturesque valley. Visit a small remote village for an An incredible vantage point into successful local practices of sustainable tourism. Interact with the local culture, learning about how the villagers have adapted to live so closely entwined with the wildlife. See how tourism dollars assist with building proper pens for their goats, and provide GPS tracking of lions, giving the villagers advance warning of when lions are in the vicinity. On your return, you can visit the Twyfelfontein area, home to remarkable prehistoric rock carvings, petrified trees, and the slate pillar Organ Pipes. Meet your guide for your private transfer to Etosha National Park, traveling via the farming centers of Khorixas and Outjo. Approximate travel time is 7 hours.
