Situated in the Kanana Concession, the focus of activities at Kanana varies with the rising and falling levels of the Okavango Delta. The annual floods transform this dry camp into a true water experience and you may actually enjoy the breathtaking spectacle of the water visibly rising around the camp’s raised teak decks. Activities included in your package allow you to enjoy morning and late afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles, with afternoon game drives often continuing into the evening. Alternatively you may explore the crystal clear waterways by mokoro or motorboat, and enjoy the magnificent variety of birds, plant and reptile species found in the area. Birding is spectacular, and Kanana hosts a seasonal heronry that teems with activity, a Kanana highlight which converts all visitors to avid 'twitchers' at first sight. One of the only places where you can enjoy a guided bush walk, Kanana's location allows you to explore the delta on foot accompanied by expertly trained and armed guides. You can also enjoy fishing for tilapia, African pike and sharptooth catfish (March through to December and basic equipment supplied).

OKAVANGO
Lose Yourself in Nature
The Okavango Delta features some of the best game viewing in all of Africa. The best way to experience it is from the comfort of a safari vehicle and in the company of an experience guide, who boasts a wealth of knowledge about this fascinating ecosystem. Early this morning, enjoy an aromatic cup of coffee and a snack before venturing into the bush in pursuit of thrilling wildlife encounters. A vast variety of beasts, both predator and prey, roam this sublime environment. You are bound to come face to face with mammals big and small, so keep your eyes peeled and your camera handy! Don’t forget to also scan the sky and tree branches for the diversity of resident and migratory birdlife. After this thrilling adventure in the bush, return to your lodge just in time for a delicious breakfast.
After a leisurely lunch and perhaps a siesta, head out on an afternoon game drive. Around 4 pm, when the temperatures begin to drop, the wildlife becomes more active, providing for a fascinating opportunity to witness the bush activity before sun begins to set. Several hours on a safari allow you to see a variety of game. From impressive tuskers to cats on the prowl, African beast are all around you and you have the front row seats to this nature’s big show. Your guide knows all of the best viewing spots and provides you with commentary about the species that you encounter. After an adventurous game drive in your 4X4 vehicle, return to your lodge just in time for scrumptious dinner.
Kanana Camp provides you with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of Botswana. Spend the night on the camp’s beautiful sleep-out deck, tuning in to the sounds of the bush. Get cozy in your comfortable bed and witness a magnificent sunset and sunrise over the Delta. Out of reach of the wildlife, and with an experienced guide nearby you can sleep soundly, and safely enjoy this ultimate African adventure.

Venture into the Outdoors
Embark on a walking safari today and experience a whole new side of Botswana. Professional guides accompany you and teach you about the bush from a different perspective, up close and personal with the environment. A walking safari is the perfect way to awaken your senses where you can touch, feel and smell the African bush and listen to the interesting stories that your guides share with you. Walks allow you to read the news of the night in the smooth sand of the road. Lion, leopard, elephants, genets and even millipedes are all part of the signs, each with their story to tell. A walking safari is about seeing the big and smaller creatures and the various flora in the area.
The Okavango Delta is flooded for much of the year and when it is, you can experience serene silence at the gentle pace of a poled mokoro excursion along the narrow Delta channels. Just sit back and relax as you glide through lily ponds on a local dugout canoe; perhaps, get up close and person with a buffalo as it laps water from the river, watch crocodiles sunbathe on the banks, or cruise past a pod of hippos as they lie in a pool. Fish eagles, frogs and fabulous lilies form much of this experience, but more frequently it is the quietness and gentle pace that makes its greatest impression on you after a mokoro morning.

Sail the Seas
Today you will make your way south from Swakopmund and drive past the Kuiseb River Delta, flocks of flamingoes, saltpans, and wetlands on your way to the famous Sandwich Harbor. This remarkably beautiful lagoon lies between the Atlantic shore and the high dunes of the Namib Sand Sea, considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Giant sand dunes run straight into the ocean, creating breathtaking landscapes. Around lunchtime, your guide will find a picnic spot either on the beach or on top of a high dune overlooking the ocean and bring out a selection of snacks with sparkling wine and oysters. On the way back to Swakopmund, the route will take you past the area's typical flora and fauna, like the black-backed jackal, fog-basking beetle, dancing spider, golden mole, springbok, oryx, brown hyaena, and ostrich.
Please note that to get to the harbor, off-road driving over sand dunes is required and at times the vehicle cannot access the site due to the tides; in this case, you will get a chance to see the lagoon area from one of the many beautiful lookout spots and will have the time to walk and explore.
